Fall is upon us and so is the cool weather. Looking for that perfect warm breakfast that cooks while you are sleeping? For all you busy moms, here’s a great recipe for your family to warm up with in the morning….AND it’s good for you.
Crockpot Overnight Oatmeal
4 cups water
1 ½ cups apple cider
1 cup rolled oats
½ cup regular barley
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
¼ cup brown sugar
2 medium apples coarsely chopped
- Grease a 3 ½ – 4 quart slow cooker. In the slow cooker, combine all ingredients except apples.
- Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 6 – 7 hours. Before serving top with chopped apples. Can serve with honey and milk and pecans. Batch can be doubled and leftovers warmed up for next morning. Makes 8 servings.
