Calling all Marvel fans, are you ready to see Marvel’s ANT-MAN?  Here are some details about the film before I share my review.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Marvel’s “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip “Ti” Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale, Jordi Mollà as Castillo and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Ant-Man” delivers a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure on July 17, 2015. (MARVEL STUDIOS)

This film is rated PG-13.

Why is the film rated PG-13?  There is a lot of live action (including lots of ants, haha) but there is swearing in the film and more than once.  They include such words like the “s” word, the “d” word, and a slang word making reference to a cat. I’m guessing ages 13 and up was a good call, but I am not one for swearing and cussing, it sounds ridiculous.  Like my dad always would say “you are too intelligent to speak that way.” 😉  That’s the entertainment world for ya.  There are also brief parts where a human and a lamb are turned into nothing but a slimy and tiny red blob.  The lamb is a test subject for the villain’s character and the human is intentional by again the villain’s character.  This might be considered intense for some kids.

Anyways, as far as the film as a whole, it was pretty good, actually better than I expected.  There are a few surprises in there that I think all Marvel fans will appreciate.  I won’t spoil those for you.

Paul Rudd made a pretty awesome and funny ANT-MAN.  His character, Scott Lang, just got out of prison and wanted to make his life right in order to see his (so adorable) daughter.  When an opportunity arises  to keep him from going back to prison, things work out for him in the end.  Hank Pym played by Michael Douglas, changes Scott’s life as he was the inventor and creator of this ant suit which also can shrink down to the size of an ant and combat evil all around, especially enemy Yellowjacket AKA Darren Cross.  Darren discovers Hank Pym’s secret which was buried for years.  Things take a big turn….I will let you see for yourself. 😉

The other characters in the film did a great job.  I liked Hank Pym’s daughter’s character Hope Van Dyne played by Evangeline Lilly. She makes a great new addition….hint, hint….

If you are not a fan of bugs (ants to be exact) you may find yourself squirming a lot, FYI! 😉  Overall, especially if you see it in 3D, you most definitely will be entertained.
