I have started reading again before I fall asleep at night. And let me just tell you, it’s amazing! I used to read constantly. I never went anywhere without a book in my purse or backpack. I could always make time to read throughout the day, but then I became a mama and everything changed (in a good way).
This past May, I made a deal with myself to read at least one book a month for the rest of the year because I missed it so much. The first couple nights were hard. I was tired and truly just wanted to sleep, but I would tell myself to read one chapter and then I could go to sleep. For the first couple weeks I did, but before I knew it I was reading lots of chapters and falling in love with books all over again.
The first book I read was “The Meryl Streep Movie Club” by Mia March. It was a pretty easy read and I read it in about 3 weeks. Now I’m down to a book a week. Every time I finish one my heart breaks a little, but then the excitement of picking a new book takes over and I fall in love all over again. I have even started a book club with my friends and have taken some time out of my day to read a chapter or two while my youngest naps and my oldest has quiet time. There is nothing like a cup of coffee and a good book. I’m so happy that I have taken the time to fall back in love with reading and to have some quiet time just for me. I think it has helped me sleep at night and to relax during the day. Well, I’m off to start a new book, “The Book Thief”! I’ll let you guys know how I liked it when I’m done!
