I received samples of fresh Tilapia by Regal Springs in exchange for this review. Any opinions expressed here are honest and my own.
When you think of fish recipes what is your favorite? Typically, I enjoy Salmon and Cod recipes. What about Tilapia? Regal Springs Tilapia recently sent my family samples of their fresh fish fillets. I am always looking for ways to incorporate more high protein meals with low calories into my family’s diet. Low in fats and carbohydrates is also very important. I am delighted to know that tilapia offers these health benefits. Regal Springs Tilapia are “cage raised in fresh water and only consume the high quality diet that they provide, offering consistent, healthy seafood choice.”
Regal Springs has a two-fold mission:
- To grow the best tilapia in the world.
- To do it right by empowering the fish-farming communities with economic and social development as an alternative to nonprofit aid.
“Not All Tilapia are Created Equal.”
All fresh Regal Springs Tilapia are raised in large floating nets in pristine deep-water lakes in Mexico and Honduras, resulting in the finest all-natural tilapia on the market. The floating nets prevent their fish from eating algae, mud, or waste. The clean water and controlled diet prevents the tilapia from ingesting high-quality vegetable-based diet and swim against lake currents to produce firm, clean-tasting fillets, free from chemicals, growth hormones, antibiotics, and carbon monoxide (a common preservative used in seafood).
Regal Springs’ tilapia is a healthy protein choice for a balanced diet. As stated previously, the fish is high in protein while low in calories, fat, and carbohydrates, plus it’s gluten-free. Additionally, their tilapia is rich in vitamin B-12, niacin, selenium, phosphorous, and magnesium. Omega-3 levels in tilapia match that of other popular seafood, including Mahi-Mahi and Yellowfin tuna.
“We believe that when the people who farm tilapia are healthy and successful, the fish that they produce will be the world’s finest. For us, sustainability depends on environmentally sound production methods, which translates into educational, structural, and social programs throughout our faming communities. We are involved in hundreds of programs and invest more than $2 million dollars each year. We have built or funded medical clinics, schools, and housing in each of the countries in which we operate. Additionally, we provide strong wages, free healthcare, and childhood and adult education for our employees and families in communities where these necessities often go unmet by the government.” ~Regal Springs
Tilapia is easy to prepare depending which route you take. My family enjoys baked fish. My husband was eager to give it a try so he put together this awesome recipe from Taste of Home.
Like any fish you may prepare, tilapia must be refrigerated or can be frozen for future preparation. Tilapia freezes nicely. They packed it tightly with cold packs. The tilapia was nice and cold and was still fresh when it arrived. Very impressive.
My family raved about the tilapia. This never happens with my girls, haha. They went on and on how yummy it was. I am so excited that I have quite a few fillets in the freezer waiting to prepare. I am digging up different recipes we can try and can’t wait! You can most certainly tell by the taste and quality that it’s fresh and healthy. It’s definitely one of my new favorites to date.
I would like to thank the folks over at Regal Springs for giving my family the opportunity of trying their fish fillets. We will be buying this product again in the future.
