Break down of the book:

Millennials are often characterized as being easily offended, clueless, and too reliant on our parents. The truth, though, is that we’re living in complex times. No one said adulting was going to be easy, and parents certainly don’t want to see their children struggle as they find their place in the world. ADULT-ISH, Cristina’s beautifully hand-illustrated interactive journal, helps capture both the small victories and bittersweet moments of growing up.  From first serious job to first recipe mastered, ADULT-ISH’s pages will inspire millennials to record and reflect on their trip through adulthood, including their milestones, missteps, and those sweet little moments in-between.

In addition to lovely excerpted pages (see below my signature), Cristina can also discuss any adulting hacks and advice she’s learned on her own road to adulthood, what to do when your child wants to be an artist when they grow up, her effort to save cursive handwriting in public schools, the challenges Millennials face that may be misunderstood, and why a tongue-in-cheek book such as this can help navigate those underrated, cultural anomalies for this generation, and more.

Review:

ADULT-ish:  Record Your Highs and Lows on the Road to the Real World is actually a great high school or college graduation gift.  It congrats you on being an adult and recording…in a comical way…your first real job; or what are you saving for; breakups, etc.  It’s a sort of baby book of memories to be captured as you’re becoming that adult you were meant to be.  Pages are cartoony and just an all-around easy book to pick up and write a few things and set down again.  Some pages you haven’t accomplished yet, but there’s plenty of time to fill this out.  Great book that’s a work in progress to have family look back at years to come.

ADULT-ish:  Record Your Highs and Lows on the Road to the Real World can be purchased at Penguin Random House.
